EXAMINATION FOR CALLIGRAPHIC CARICATURE

s Center, proclaims an
announcement of a competitive examination, planned
by Raffaele Palma and
addressed to all fans of calligraphy, drawing, comp
uter graphics and humor.
Presence to the competitive examination is totally
free, it does not include any
admission fee and it is addressed to a wider audien
ce.
Owing to the difficulty in execution of the request
ed papers, university
students, enrolled to any academic year of Fine Art
s, as well as Architecture,
Design, Engineering Departments etc., can participa
te.
The examining body, composed by professional author
s, will appraise any work
as regards technical and graphic difficulty as well
as its content, peculiarity and
originality. The examining body is composed by Clau
dio Francesco Puglia,
Gianni Soria and Ugo Sajini. Each candidate may sen
d three works, realized
with whatever technique and style.

 

PROCESSING OF CALLIGRAPHIC CARICATURE

1. It will be necessary to choose a photo of a famo
us character of any time
as well as profession, for a free grotesque inter
pretation.
2. The following step will be to create such carica
ture by using all letters of
the name, surname or both of the character until
obtaining a synthesis of a
calligraphic caricature.
3. The above shall regard the whole body or the fac
e and shall be frontal, in
three-quarters, in profile or also with non-co
nventional perspectives.

 

4. On this caricature the character must be compose
d in volume, in black
and white or in colour.
Both caricatures (that in synthesis and that in
volume) must be perfectly superimposable.
5. An enclosed file, work size, must include the le
gend with the description of
the character and directions for the site of each
letter (maximum 25 lines,
Times New Roman 14 edition or similar) and author
's data.
MATERIAL AND SIZES DELIVERY
Each candidate will therefore have
3 drafts: personage's photo and
two calligraphic caricatures, in synthesis and in v
olume.
These drafts
must be sent only in JPG, GIF or TIF electronic siz
e, zipped, if possible

The candidate must take care to enclose, in word si
ze, character's and author's
general data. According to the law December 31st, 1
996 n ° 675, all
participant's name and address will be treated in o
bservance of the privacy.
The students must also indicate their University as
well as its address
and eventually the name of their reference universi
ty
teacher.
The paper drafts sent by any post service, will be
threw away!
The drafts must arrive within and not over December
31st, 2014. During the
first quarter 2015, the jury will examine all works
of non-professional authors
arrived at the address indicated above and will cho
ose the best drafts.
The winners will not receive any cash prize, but a
virtual recognition, with
permanent publication of the works on site:

Moreover, the first three placed works will receive
the maximum prominence
on specialized media and on Internet, after the fir
st quarter 2015.
