The refugee crisis, most European crisis after World War II, affecting hundreds of thousands of people migrating from the Middle East, Africa and other parts of the world, fleeing war, persecution, poverty, injustice, arbitrariness and from all types of human rights violations, is the central theme of the
XXIII International Exhibition of Arts of Humor, organized by the General Foundation of the University of Alcala de Henares and the 'Instituto Quevedo of Humor, entitled: "¿Fronteras y rejas ? Parejas ".
The exhibition is not competitive and will remain open until October 30 at the exhibition hall, Calle Santa María la Rica, 3, in Alcala de Henares, Spain, and consists of 152 works by authors from 50 different nationalities, a small selection of over 500 entries received, to express criticism of a Europe that proclaims itself committed to the defense of human rights, but that is acting exclusively and with lack of sensitivity to this drama."For more than two decades - writes in the exhibition catalog, Fernando Galvan, Rector of the University of Alcalá and President of the Foundation General- our goal with this activity is to raise awareness in dramatic situations ... this time, puts us in front of human beings who are forced to flee from conflict and persecution, suffering the pain of having to leave everything they loved, with the uncertainty of what the future holds, and the experience of rejection or neglect in the world of daily reports average ".
The exhibition includes exhibitions, conferences, workshops in schools and prisons, street activities, presentations of books, Fiesta de la Caricature Solidaria, in which artists from different countries make drawings live on the main street of the city, and other events for children . The Italian Marilena Nardi participates in the event as a guest artist. Once again, reality inspires humorists charts with their critical and edgy look, denounce and make us reflect on situations that affect millions of people.
