"GAZA - STAND BY THE OPPRESSED WITH YOUR DRAWING!" INTERNATIONAL CARTOON COMPETITION /CYPRUS2025

Competition Name: Gaza - Stand by the Oppressed with Your Drawing!

Purpose: This cartoon competition is organized to show our people and the world the inhumane cruelty and suffering experienced in Gaza and many other parts of the world, and to increase people's sensitivity on this issue.

Subject: Cartoons dealing with subjects such as the oppression and cruelty implemented by Israel in Palestinian territories, attacks on Gaza and the unacceptable dimensions of these attacks in terms of humanity and international law, Gaza's struggle for freedom and human tragedy, the silence of world countries, the silence of so-called Muslim states.

Participants: Anyone over the age of 11 who is interested in cartoons and is confident in their drawings can participate in the competition.

Terms and Conditions of Participation:

● Participants can participate in the competition with a single work.

● Cartoons can be digital or hand-drawn.

● Cartoon drawings must be A4 size.

● The uploaded photo must be in jpeg or png format.

● The uploaded photo size must not exceed 10MB.

● Cartoons can be in Turkish or another language. For those in other languages, a Turkish translation will be added as an explanation.

● The works sent to the competition must be original, have not won a prize in the competitions, and have not been published anywhere. Intellectual responsibility belongs to the cartoonists.

● Participants are free to use any technique and material suitable for their own style of expression.

Works that do not comply with general moral rules, contain insults, and use company names will be disqualified from the competition.

Publication and Copyright of Works

● The Cyprus Damla Association will have the right to print, publish, exhibit, and copyright all cartoons sent to the competition.

Participants are deemed to have accepted and committed to all provisions of the Competition Specifications and Application Forms.

● The Cyprus Damla Association will have the discretion to resolve issues and disputes that are not within the scope of the Specifications.

● The participant accepts, declares and undertakes that the work sent to the competition belongs entirely to him/her. Any legal responsibilities that may arise from the works being quoted and/or plagiarized belong to the owner of the work.

● If it is understood that the participants who receive an award have acted outside the declarations and acceptances, the awards, titles and all kinds of gains they have received will be taken back.

● The works sent to the competition; whether they receive a degree or not, are within the scope and right of the Cyprus Damla Association after they are sent.

Delivery Method and Date:

● Works received after the last participation date will not be evaluated.

● The works will be uploaded to the system by filling out the application form at www.kibrisdamla.com.

● The works must be uploaded to the system before the last date.

Competition Schedule

● Deadline for Submission of Works: Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 23:59

● Preliminary Evaluation of Works: Monday, April 7, 2025 – Thursday, April 10, 2025

● Announcement of Selected Works: Friday, April 11, 2025 (www.kibrisdamla.com)

● Voting of Selected Works: Saturday, April 12, 2025 – Monday, May 5, 2025

● Announcement of Results: Announcement will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at the opening program of the III. Lefkara Literature Festival and the award ceremony will be held. The results will be published on www.kibrisdamla.com in the evening of the same day.

Evaluation:

● Cartoons will be examined by the evaluation committee, 13 works will be selected in the preliminary evaluation, then these works will be put to vote on www.kibrisdamla.com and as a result of the votes given, the first 3 works to be ranked and 10 works to receive honorable mentions will be determined.

Evaluation Criteria for Cartoons Point Level

Rating Minimum 10 Maximum 20

1- Suitability for the purpose, subject/ability to express relevant values with cartoons

2- Expressive Power/ Suitability of the drawing technique used in the cartoon

3- Difference in the cartoon, Originality

4- Visuality of the cartoon

● First: 10,000 TL gift certificate from KKTC Deniz Plaza

● Second: 7,500 TL gift certificate from KKTC Deniz Plaza

● Third: 5,000 TL gift certificate from KKTC Deniz Plaza

● Honorable Mention Award for 10 People: 1,000 TL gift certificate from KKTC Deniz Plaza
