There are times when, even before announcing an event, we are led to reflect on the world we live in.
For over two decades, the 22nd Limeira International Humor Salon has always sought to provoke important reflections, both among the participating artists and our
audience. After all, we believe that graphic humor exists not only to entertain, but also to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and offer new perspectives on reality.
At this moment in history, perhaps no theme is more urgent than the preservation of our planet.
We live surrounded by scenes that unfortunately are beginning to seem commonplace: litter scattered in the streets, squares, parks, rivers, and oceans; forests
devastated by rampant deforestation; waste, excessive consumption, and a lack of respect for nature. We often point the finger at governments and institutions, but
we also need to recognize that each of us is part of this reality. Small actions, repeated daily, build the world we live in.
It was this reflection that inspired the official poster for this edition.
The image makes a silent yet powerful appeal: we are devouring our own world through the waste we produce and the way we treat nature. Plastic, for example, is an
extraordinary material when used responsibly. However, its improper disposal is transforming rivers, seas, and landscapes into waste dumps, compromising the lives of
countless species, including our own.
More than denouncing, we want to invite each person to an intimate reflection. The planet is our home. Caring for it is not only a collective duty but an individual
responsibility.
This year we had the honor of having the extraordinary Bulgarian artist Ivaylo Tsvetkov participate, responsible for creating the illustration for the official poster.
Besides being an internationally recognized artist, we found a great friend, educated, generous, and deeply committed to this project. We developed this work as a
team throughout an intense, careful, and challenging process, achieving a result of which we are very proud.
Ivailo will also join the Judging Committee of the 22nd Limeira International Humor Salon. On behalf of the PIU Family, we express our sincere gratitude for this
important collaboration.
Another ally during the creation of this year's campaign was Artificial Intelligence. We used this tool exclusively to support and expand communication possibilities and
enhance some visual details of the campaign.
However, we want to reaffirm our position: the Limeira International Humor Salon continues to value, above all, human artistic creation.
We do not encourage submitted works to be produced by Artificial Intelligence. We deeply respect the creativity, style, sensitivity, critical thinking, and artistic identity
of each participant. We have lived through numerous technological transformations in recent decades and, I confess, I still miss the time when we received thousands
of envelopes from all corners of the world, bringing original hand-drawn designs.
That emotion is part of our history and will continue to be part of our essence.
Our themes, traditionally distributed across seven categories, include, among others, ever-relevant topics such as nature, water, the environment, and the appreciation
of women, the mothers of us all. As in all editions, the themes remain open to diverse interpretations. This year, perhaps they will be even more subtle. Each artist will
find their own way to express their ideas, because we believe that true art does not offer ready-made answers: it awakens questions, provokes thought, and invites
dialogue.
Welcome everyone.
Another new feature of this edition is that we are working on improving our traditional trophy. The project is still "in the oven," and some details depend on the final
studies, but our goal is to offer an even more representative award to the winning artists.
We wish artists from all over the world an inspiring participation, full of creativity, talent, sensitivity, and courage.
We ask the Almighty Father to grant us wisdom, protection, and inspiration to conduct this edition of the 22nd Limeira International Humor Salon, also blessing all
participating artists and their families.
Our deepest gratitude to all who, directly or indirectly, have kept this project alive for over two decades.
May Art continue to be an instrument of reflection, freedom, awareness, peace, and hope.
Because this has always been, and will continue to be, our greatest purpose:
To create and promote Art.
A warm hug to all,
Roberto Bonomi
