Oldest cartoon contest in the world
Knokke-Heist is hosting the international cartoonists for the 62nd time, making the Gouden Hoed the oldest cartoon competition in the world. After all these years, the competition is still extremely popular, as more than 471 cartoonists from more than 62 countries took part in De Grote Prijs Knokke-Heist. A total of 1884 cartoons were submitted.
The 10 nominees for the Grand Prix Knokke-Heist Gouden Hoed have been announced. After an extensive jury day, a professional eight-person jury, led by Chris Dusauchoit, selected 10 cartoonists on Saturday, March 4, 2023, who have a chance to win a cash prize of 5,000 euros and eternal cartoon fame. The chairman received professional support for this from cartoonist Floor Denil, illustrator Iris Van Robays (De Standaard), actress/comedienne Sarah Vandeursen, cartoonist Inge Heremans (Ilah) and Toon Horsten (Standaard Uitgeverij).

The winners will be announced on Saturday 8 July 2023 during the official opening of the Cartoon Festival 2023 in Knokke-Heist. You can admire the cartoons of all nominees this summer in the theme exhibition.
