The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) awarded the Colombian cartoonist Mauricio Parra First Prize Cartoon Contest Against Corruption,

for his work "Change begins in the head".For its part, the Chilean Alberto Montt won the audience award with his drawing

"Vote" to be the preferred social networks among the 10 cartoons selected as finalists by the jury.

The award, launched by the international body to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day, had more than 200 entries from

18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The manager of the Department of Institutions IDB Development, Ana Maria Rodriguez, said in a statement that the works presented

"made us reflect once again on the extraordinary social and economic costs of corruption, and reminded us that the cartoon is a powerful

communication tool that breaks language barriers.

""Make visible the phenomenon of corruption in all its dimensions is essential for societies and each of its citizens take the necessary measures to

combat and prevent passage," Rodriguez said in the press release.

The competition was held with the support of the Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for New Latin American Journalism (FNPI),

and all finalists won a scholarship to a seminar-workshop by the FNPI.

The ceremony will be held on Wednesday 9 December at headquarters in Washington.

The jury was composed by cartoonists Ricardo Liniers, of Argentina; Vladdo, of Colombia; CEO Ricardo FNPI Corridor;

and international expert on governance and anticorruption, Daniel Kaufmann.

For its part, the IDB was represented by the head of the Division of Creativity, Culture and Solidarity, Trinidad Zaldivar
