1st International Biennial Illustration of Solidarity Ajudaris
AJUDARIS is a renowned Portuguese non-profit private association, public utility since 2008 that develops several social intervention projects that combat social exclusion through education.
One of its greatest initiatives is the "Histórias da Ajudaris" (Ajudaris Stories) who creates bridges between reading, literature and illustration. This is an example of the educational work that is carried out every year in schools throughout the country, with teachers and students writing stories that later will be illustrated by professional illustrators who volunteer for the job. Finally, the works are collected in various volumes and published to be sold, and the illustrations are displayed at the traveling exhibition across Portugal.
With the foundations already built on a very solid structure, and with the know-how acquired over the last few years, Ajudaris now intends to create in close partnership with the Municipality of Amarante and the Manuel António da Mota Foundation, an even bigger and stronger bridge to project its work in a new and ambitious challenge: the organization of the 1st International Biennial Illustration of Solidarity Ajudaris to be held from 04 to 10 September 2017.
It is an organization of Ajudaris and counts with the support and sponsorship of several public and private entities.
